He became part of the family of transatlantic tours. "Uptight (Everything's Alright)" (1964) turned his fortunes around, becoming his first hit. In 1976 he released his album The Key Of Life, on the Motown label. It stayed at No1 in the US Billboard 100 for 14 weeks. He remains one of the most successful artists in pop and soul.
